The development of a major infrastructure corridor between Elliott and Darwin has reached a key milestone, with the Northern Territory Government awarding a $936,100 tender to Melbourne-based CNC Project Management Pty Ltd.
The contract will see the company provide on-demand specialist technical advice to support the planning and development of the proposed Territory Energy Link.
Previously known as the Tennant Creek to Darwin Infrastructure Corridor, the Territory Energy Link is envisioned as a multi-user, multi-asset corridor spanning approximately 670 kilometres.
The project is designed to support a buried services network capable of transporting gas, water, optical fibre, hydrogen, and other essential utilities critical to the Northern Territory’s long-term growth.
The awarded tender marks a significant advancement for the Territory Energy Link, as it enables detailed technical planning and early-stage pipeline design. The advisory services are expected to ensure the priority section of the corridor is development-ready by 2028.
The proposed corridor also holds strategic value for unlocking the Beetaloo Basin’s vast gas reserves, by creating a direct route to transport gas from the basin to Darwin. This is a key component in the Territory’s broader plans to enhance energy security, attract investment, and drive industrial expansion in northern Australia.
Once operational, the Territory Energy Link is expected to not only enable the efficient transport of critical resources but also lay the groundwork for future industries, including digital infrastructure, further boosting the Territory’s economic resilience and competitiveness.
