A large tract of land near Darwin, featuring high-quality extractive deposits, has been opened up for new permits to access the in-demand resources.
The Northern Territory Government has revised the ‘Reserved Land’ status of NT Portion 4476 (RL34137), which spans the Gunn Point Peninsula and part of Koolpinyah Station, only 70 kilometres from Darwin.
The change grants access to high-quality extractive minerals such as clay, gravel, rock, and sand from a conveniently located source close to the city.
With numerous infrastructure and development projects underway in Darwin and its surrounding suburbs, the demand for construction materials is growing.
The decision is intended to provide a practical solution that supports both business operations and the needs of local residents. By unlocking this resource, the government aims to reduce costs, strengthen supply chains, and contribute to the success of major projects across the Top End.
Interested parties seeking to access extractive minerals in the newly available area must apply for an extractive mineral permit under the existing Mineral Titles Act 2010 framework.
